Consulting & Coaching:
What’s the Difference?

What is the difference between a dental practice management consultant and a coach? What do they do?

Which role is best suited to help your practice thrive?

With over 40 years in the dental industry, Sandy understands how efficient, effective dental businesses are organized, managed, and function. She works with dental practices as a consultant, a coach, or both. It all depends on your needs.

Consulting

For most dentist-practice owners, it’s close to impossible to give 100% to both your patients’ needs and your business’ management.  They are each full-time jobs.  This is where Sandy can save you time and money. She brings organization, solutions, best-practice systems, as well as an extra set of hands to relieve you of management duties and headaches.

When working with a dental practice as a consultant, Sandy serves in an advisory role to you. Through in-depth evaluations, observations, and interviews, she uncovers the practice’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis).  She then works with you to design an action plan to achieve your goals.  The following are examples of what Sandy can do for you, your team, and your practice.

  • Uncover the details of where your practice is now and how it compares to the other dental practices.

  • Determine where are you losing income, and more importantly where could you gain more income.

  • Review your Key Performance Indicators or monitors each month.

  • Provide recommendations on practice systemization to help your practice run like a well-oiled machine.

Coaching

Once the game plan is set, Sandy puts on her coaching hat and jumps in to help your practice make positive change happen! In the coaching role, Sandy is much more hands-on and will work with the practice for an extended period.

She collaborates with everyone in the practice and acts as an extension of your team. In this coaching stage, Sandy provides hands-on team training, on-site or virtual, in-office continuing education seminars, as well as OSHA and HIPPA training sessions.

As a coach, Sandy provides full-service business solutions, programs, and development including:

  • Goals and benchmark setting/achieving

  • Operational systemization/turn-key

  • Financial safeguards

  • Transition and expansion preparation

  • Overhead and cash flow analysis

  • Employee bonus plans

  • Operational and employee manuals

  • Provide building programs

  • Team building, training, and development

  • Hiring, firing and accountability

  • Marketing/new patient acquisition

  • New practice set-up
